sometimes a person may ask the universe for a life change, and sometimes the universe obliges.
sometimes that person realizes she needs to be more specific when requesting favors from the universe.
sometimes people have shallow, superficial musings which are discussed at length and in great detail.
sometimes i have intangible and exhilarating thoughts which my mind masks in poems:
if beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
what is the
subject
left with?
nakedness is only condemned in company
like swearing
and art.

no good deed goes unpunished
this is the part where tell you i am a crazy unstable erratic human being. with feelings.
sick.
this is the part where i tell you how beautiful this world is:
i talked with a half-lit middle aged man at an atm for fifteen minutes about texting and politics and sociology and my recent major-switch and his wife and the state of the human race. i don't know his name. it does not matter.
i watched a stranger who was watching another stranger struggle and stumble and try to work around the fact she only had two hands and too much food for them. the middle stranger got out of her seat, walked down the aisle (with stairs), and helped her.
billy asked pertinent, intelligent, though-provoking questions regarding a presentation given by an idiot californian. he was sarcastic and demeaning and she didn't even catch it. the irony = billy is usually the idiot, though he is not a californian.
this is the part where my foot falls asleep and my thumb is healing and i feel so incredibly healthy, for the first time ever.
this is definitely the part.
sick.

chocolate raspberry hazlenut
i changed my nose ring yesterday. it went from sparkle stud to ring, and my nose went from status quo to swollen and red. it took about 20 minutes and it hurt like hell. but i like it. i think i look a little punk rock, a little hippie, and even a little dangerous- then i remind myself that it's a nose ring, not a glock. so it's actually quite far from dangerous to be truthful. but i like to get carried away sometimes. i also like eating ice cream every day after work (though my ass is in dissent).
this particular evening, i was sitting in a nondescript cafe eating said ice cream, and i thought (as i often do): what if* the world suddenly ended, or there was some bizzarre quarantine, or for some other reason i was forced to spend eternity with only the people in this room?... honestly, i silently entertain this idea frequently, but i was quite happy this instance of theory took place in an ice cream parlor. i can deal with ALMOST anything if there is ice cream involved. i digress.
so in this parlor exist: two barista/scooper girls. one is soft and round and has dark hair and a patient voice. the second is a little unsure and has long hair and is still learning the ins and outs of her job. thus the patience of the first girl. then there is a couple, both college aged, and it is either the first date, or an on-a-whim attempt of the guy at procuring a first official date. they both are wearing sweatpants. in the corner are three middle aged women gossiping. me. behind me- a man reading so intently he isn't even bothered by my loudly rustling bag and unkempt presence. and then i realize these would be really boring people to spend eternity with. i wonder what they would suppose of me were the imaginary tables turned.
next time i should imagine a hostage situation. that would be more interesting than eternity.
